  • Low-Hanging Fruit Tool

    This benchmarking tool can be especially useful for governments and NGOs to enhance the efficiency of operations and projects with a strong data-driven decision-making. The tool is based on novel sequencing methods, data analysis and scenario modeling, and can explain which indicators should be developed in order to reach progress in a selected category. The end table includes a current status and the progress in 2017.

  • Interpreting Tables

    Learning how to pick the right area to invest in for a specific country is complicated. Using novel sequencing methods, V-Dem has specifically designed this tool which can be helpful on the way to make strong decisions based on the data.

    For that purpose, we have identified the lowest value of each indicator in a selected category, which has been reached historically (1900-2017) in virtually all countries before the highest value of the variable in question was reached. This value is indicated in a column “Min Value”.

  • Interpreting Tables

    Current Value in Country – displays the current score of an indicator on the “original scale” in 2017. To view scales of an indicator, please click on the indicator.
    Status – displays the current status of this indicator: star – indicator is a so-called Low Hanging Fruit – ranking quite well and very easy to reach, the country’s value is one step away from the desired one; green tick – indicator has met the criteria and reached the goal; black cross – an indicator is far away from reaching the goal.
